Open Doors Academy is an out-of-school enrichment program seeking to advance educational equity by protecting, inspiring, nurturing, and challenging their scholars.
Their 2022–2023 annual report used the classic device of who, what, where, when, why, and how—with some help from ODA scholars along the way—to share the story of their 31st year.
The report’s warm tone-on-tone color palette was inspired by the many yellow GAP sweatshirts worn by scholars at ODA’s annual storytelling summer camp. Bold, chunky display typography is playful and distinctive while communicating clearly and effectively. Clean layouts allow candid photography and the scholars’ own drawings to shine.
As friendly and warm as a big bowl of macaroni and cheese, the report’s overall design evokes both the joy of the scholars ODA serves and the importance of the work ODA provides everyday.
