To emphasize the idea that systems change happens over time, the report took the form of a long accordion fold brochure with a gradient that goes from seafoam green to Deaconess blue. The gradient’s noisy texture reflects the small actions of individual nonprofits that combine to create meaningful, widespread change. Simple circle & line diagrams link causes and effects, while variable typography—headlines with gradually more ink spread from left to right—conveys how these actions ripple out to the rest of the ecosystem.
Building on the bold but approachable tone established in the 2023 annual report, this piece continues to move the Deaconess brand forward. Its double-sided brochure format is economical in a year fraught with financial cuts; a complement to the design concept; and an unexpected, interesting format for an annual report.
